WE NEED TO HELP NOW!

Scroll down for information on how you can help.

Here are the current stats (taken from the LA Times on Saturday, March 12, 2011):

- over 1,000 dead
- thousands still stranded in houses or on rooftops awaiting air evacuation
- 1,800 homes washed away and / or destroyed
- millions without power (nuclear power generators shut down due to quake)

Here is what I know (from talking to my in-laws):

- frequent aftershocks anywhere from 4-7 point magnitude
- supermarkets are almost, if not empty (my brother-in-law bought the last package of toilet paper)
- body count cannot be confirmed because some areas still cannot be reached either because of wreckage, landslides, etc. or for fear of another tsunami if a large aftershock occurs.
- Deaths have been reported from close to the epicenter all the way to 3-4 hours away (by car) from the epicenter

Here is what I think:

- WE NEED TO HELP NOW.

Thank you for your help and consideration.
